If an insured woman dies during her delivery or during the period immediately following her delivery for which she is entitled to maternity benefit, benefit will be payable for the whole of the period in either case provided she leaves behind the child.
If, however, the child also dies during the said period immediately following the confinement, the benefit will be payable upto and including the date of death of the
child to the person nominated by the insured woman and if there is no such nominee, to her legal representative.
Maternity benefit would, however, payable will be limited to the
maximum period of 12 weeks which is normally payable for
confinement. This period of 12 weeks will be subject to the
condition that the total duration of maternity benefit including
the one paid after the death of the insured woman does not
exceed, under any circumstances, a period of 12 weeks. |
