Duration

The benefit is  payable  for a period of 7 days for vasectomy operation undergone by insured person and for a period of 14  days in case of tubectomy operation  undergone by insured woman.       

The period of 7 days/ 14 days will be reckoned from the date of operation or from the date of admission in the hospital, as the case may be.

If the insured person /women does not abstain from work on medical grounds on the date of operation, the period of 7 days/ 14 days will be reckoned from the date following the date of operation.

Duration in case of post operative complications.
Benefit may continue to be paid upto 21 days in tubectomy cases where longer abstention from work is certified by Medical Supdt. of the hospital in which the operation was conducted.

Enhanced Sickness Benefit for vasectomy is not ordinarily payable beyond 7 days. However, in case of post operative complications,  benefit beyond 7 days may be sanctioned  by Regional Office/Sub Regional Office, in consultation with RDMC Medical Referee. 

Similarly,  benefit beyond 21 days in case of tubectomy may also be sanctioned  by Sub Regional Office, in consultation with RDMC/Medical Referee.
