Super Speciality
Treatment under ESI Scheme -
Tie
up arrangement with city hospitals
In
a strong move to make quality medical care to beneficiaries under ESI
Scheme, more far reaching and facilitating, the Tamil Nadu Government in
tune with the policy of the ESI Corporation, has embarked on a tie-up
arrangement with reputed hospitals here and elsewhere, for speciality
and super speciality treatment, from July 2004.
It could be termed a breakthrough, and a boon to ESI
beneficiaries, who have hitherto been witness and subject to
cumbersome reimbursement procedures. In what is conceived to be an almost cashless
service, a seriously ailing beneficiary will have to only approach his
or her ESI Dispensary or the ESI Hospital here, to get a referral letter
(issuable after due medical examination , subject to title to benefit)
from the ESI medical authorities, which could well be a passport to the
recommended speciality treatment in a reputed private hospital
recognized for the speciality. The patient need not pay from his pocket
for the particular procedure or surgery to be done.
The cost of the procedure would be met by the ESI Scheme and payable
direct to the hospital concerned on a package deal basis/ rate as per
the memorandum of agreement executed.
The empanelled referral hospitals at Coimbatore as of now are
KG Hospital, Kovai
Medical Center and Hospital, Kongunadu Hospital, PSG Hospital, Sheela
Clinic, Lalitha Hospital, Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, KTVR Group Hospitals and The Eye Foundation. Surgical specialities
and costly procedures at the relevant hospitals under cardiology,
orthopaedics, nephrology/urology, oncology, neurology and ophthalmology
are covered under the new dispensation.
However the speciality or super speciality treatment will be available
to the insured persons and their family members, subject to certain
qualifying conditions.
