The following amendments in Rule 55(2), Rule 57 (3) (a), Rule 57 (3) (b) (i), Rule 57 (3) (b) (ii) and Rule 58 (2) (a), Rule 58 (2) (b) (i) and Rule 58 (2) (b) (i) and Rule 58 (2) (b) (ii) and Rule 59 of the ESI (Central) Rules, 1950 have been brought into force:-

 1. Rule-55(2)

          In Rule 55, for sub rule (2), the following sub-rule shall be substituted, namely "(2) The daily rate of sickness benefit in respect of a person during any benefit period shall be twenty percent more than the standard benefit rate specified in Rule 54 of corresponding to the average daily wages of that person during the corresponding contribution period".

 2. Rule-57 (3) Disablement Benefit

          In Rule 57, In sub rule (3), in clause (a) and sub-clauses (i) and (ii) of clause (b) for the words "forty percent" the words "fifty percent" shall be substituted.

 3. Rule-58 Dependants Benefit

          In Rule 57, In sub rule (3), in clause (a) and sub-clauses (i) and (ii) of clause (b) for the words "forty percent" the words "fifty percent" shall be substituted.

  4. Rule-59 Funeral Expenses

          In Rule 59, for the words "Two Thousand and Five Hundred Rupees" the words "Three Thousand Rupees" shall be substituted. 

          The above amendments in ESI (Central) Rules, 1950 shall come into force with effect from 1st December, 2007.
